Screen Printing Week #1

JAMES - Luckily & thankfully, i've gotten myself 7 poster assignments, all for shows coming up in the next month, mostly in the NC/Asheville area. The jobs started coming in around Feb 15, and the next week i dedicated to illustrating and scanning in all the posters (or as many as possible) - Tom's teacher recommeded something similar. Drawing 8 hours or more a day for a week is something i've never had the chance to do, and it was an amazing development of ideas, skill, instinct and frustration.

The following week (week before last) was dedicated to scanning everything in, doing the color and film separations, and screen printing the first two posters (i also did a b&w poster for a local band that didn't require screen printing).
The first two are the ones you see up top - Walkmen and Of Montreal. I'm very happy with how they turned out and how well the original concepts transformed into the final product. They're both 18x24 - the Walkmen is two colors on tan paper, Of Montreal is 4 colors on white paper. Next i'll post the 4 posters i did last week.

great job! these look sick! i checked out the ones on yr site (jamesflames.com) and they are really fantastic. that zebra one blew me away along with the moaners. you have to post those 'cause i'm really interested in the process of those. the silkscreening on them is great but the actual drawing of them is some of the best stuff i think you've ever done. anyway, talk to you soon.

At first glance I wasn't crazy about the Walkmen poster, until I noticed that the antlers spent out the name of the band at which point I realized it was awesome.

And the ...Of Montreal poster is classic Flames; I love it, although I find the shade of yellow a bit too bold.
